“Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan-Peace” Initiative held two meetings with Vice PM Beşir Atalay and Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ.
The council included Zübeyde Teker, the president of Federation Initiative for Solidarity with Inmate Families (TUHAD-FED), Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) deputy Emine Ayna and humam rights advocate Eren Keskin.
"It was a positive interview"
“It was meaningful being accepted as an Initiative. We talked with Beşir Atalay on basic subjects. They stated that Turkish-Kurdish peace process was going well and there was a trustworthy relationship. They insisted on the peace. It was an interview more than diplomatic. It was an interview questioning “what we should do for peace?” Zübeyde Teker, the president of TUHAD-FED and former a member of Council of the Wise told bianet.
"They implied the period would be long in accordance with Turkey’s social structure. However, they added that positive developments were on their ways. They didn’t give us so much clue about this subject.”
Teker stated that the interview was positive and it would help the Resolution Process.
"They denied allegations for Öcalan’s cancer"
Zübeyde Teker also held talks with Bekir Bozdağ on the subjects of ill prisoners and Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) prisoners.
Teker conveyed the information that the government was working on a regulation which would stop the unjust treatment for ill prisoners.
“Neither Abullah Öcalan is ill with cancer nor he has undergone an operation,” said Atalay and Bozdağ.
Zübeyde Teker transmitted the situation of KCK prisoners and the file “İlhan Çomak” who has been prisoner for 20 years as examples to the ministers.
Moreover, advocates and TUHAD-FED requested from ministers Bozdağ and Atalay that they wanted to go to İmralı Island. (NV/BD/BM)
