SUSPICIOUS DEATHS OF SOLDIERS

Minister of National Defense İsmet Yılmaz answered the parliamentary question of Republican People's Party (CHP) Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba and stated that 934 soldiers committed suicide in the last 10 years.

Republican People's Party (CHP) Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba gave the parliamentary question to Minister of National Defense İsmet Yılmaz and asked the cause of death of Infantryman Eren Özel from Malatya and the number of soldiers died on duty.

Minister of National Defense İsmet Yılmaz answered the parliamentary question: "1470 people died in military in between 2002-2012" The list also contained the cause of deaths: "weapon accidents, military vehicle accidents, feeling unfit to military service, work accidents and suicide"

Ağbaba asked  "What is the number of soldiers who committed suicide in the last 10 years?" and the answer of Yılmaz was "934".

"Infantryman Eren Özel was doing his compulsory military service in Kahramanmaraş and he was killed on September 8, 2011. First it was told that he'd committed to suicide but then they stated that he was killed by his soldier friend" mentioned Ağbaba and asked the real cause of death of Eren Özel.  "A criminal case against Suspect Ahmet Aktaş had been initiated and he's still on trial by "deliberate murder by negligence" crime" stated Minister of National Defense İsmet Yılmaz.(EKN)
