Internist Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşçıoğlu from İstanbul Çapa Faculty of Medicine lost his life due to novel coronavirus (Covid-19) yesterday (April 1).
The news of his death were shared with the public by his son Onur Taşçıoğlu on Twitter. "We have lost my beloved father Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşçıoğlu. May his soul rest in peace," said Onur Taşçıoğlu.
'Your students are waiting for you'
Two days before his death, the below video was shared on the Twitter account of İstanbul University Faculty of Medicine:
"Your thousands of students that you have touched their souls are waiting for you to wake up. We have stories to finish together, we still have so much to learn from you. Your family is waiting for you, professor. Our hearts and prayers are with you... We are lucky to have you, Prof. Cemil."

He had been treated since March 16
Internist Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşçıoğlu from İstanbul Çapa Faculty of Medicine tested positive for the coronavirus on March 17. As he showed its symptoms, he had been quarantined in the hospital since March 16.

A Professor of General Internal Medicine from İstanbul Faculty of Medicine, Internal Medicine Department.
He co-translated the book "Internal Medicine Case Reviews" by David L. Longsworts et al. into Turkish with Assoc. Prof. Nilgün Erten. He was also the editor of the Turkish translation of "Clinician's Guide to Laboratory Medicine: A Practical Approach" by Samir P. Desai.
