The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) has blocked access to Germany-based news website "nupel.net."
The access block has been imposed by the decision no. 2020/3222 of the Diyarbakır 3rd Penal Judgeship of Peace on October 6, 2020.
Günay Aslan, the Editor-in-Chief of nupel.net, has protested the block on his social media account and announced that they will continue publishing news on "nupel.info" address. Aslan has briefly said:
"The access block imposed on our website in Turkey is, above all else, a usurpation of our readers' right to obtain information there. Moreover, it is a heavy blow to freedom of press and expression.
"This is obviously an attempted censorship from the medieval times and a shame in the age of communication and technology."
Sitemize Türkiye’den getirilen erişim engeli her şeyden önce oradaki okurlarımızın haber alma hakkının gasp edilmesidir. Ayrıca basın ve ifade özgürlüğüne bir darbedir.
