The Ministry of Interior has made a statement concerning the operations launched from August 6-13.
In the statement issued on its official website, it was stated that 402 social media accounts have been investigated and legal action has been taken against 292 people in the last week.
Following charges were pressed against the social media users:
“Propagandizing for a terrorist organization, promoting these organizations, declaring affiliation with terrorist organizations, inciting people to enmity and hatred, insulting state officials, attempting against state’s indivisible integrity, committing hate speech…”
“Exchange rate” investigation into social media
General Directorate of Security has also launched an investigation against 346 social media accounts sharing posts "which aim to create a negative perception by manipulating the exchange rate of dollar."
The Ministry announced on February 26 that 845 people who criticized the Afrin operation on social media and participated in critical activities had been taken into custody. (AS/TK)
