Distributing leaflets in the campus today (April 12) that call for discharge of those who are responsible for the incident of Volkan Bayar, who works as a research fellow at Eskişehir Osmangazi University, murdering four people on April 5, 2018, were taken into custody.
As reported by Doğan News Agency, a group of students made a statement for the press at the student cafeteria in the afternoon hours today. Stating that University President Prof. Dr. Hasan Gönen resigning is not enough and those who have responsibility in the incident should be dismissed, the students said that they don’t have life safety in the campus.
While the students, who were holding banners reading “Bullets fired on 4 academics are actually fired on science”, were prevented from distributing leaflets, three students were taken into custody. The detained students were taken to Security Directorate.
University President Prof. Dr. Hasan Gönen resigned on April 11 from his post where he was serving since 2011.

According to sendika.org, 11 people who attempted to stage protest to condemn the massacre in Osmangazi University ahead of the Higher Eduction Board (YÖK) meeting which Hasan Gönen will attend as well were taken into custody in capital Ankara. (ŞA/TK)
