Two of five people detained on charge of “propagandizing for an illegal organization” on social media in Elazığ have been arrested by Criminal Judgeship of Peace.
Elazığ Provincial Gendarmerie Commandership teams detained five people earlier for allegedly “propagandizing for the PKK/KCK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party/Kurdistan Communities Union)”. Two of the five people taken to the courthouse were arrested, three others were released on probation.
A person in Afyon was arrested yesterday (March 7) on charge of “insulting President” and “propagandizing for an illegal organization on social media” and was delivered to Afyonkarahisar Type E Closed Penal Institution.
Two people detained in Antep for allegedly “propagandizing for an illegal organization” on social media were arrested by Criminal Judgeship of Peace on Duty.
The Ministry of Interior had declared that legal action was taken against 169 people due to their social media posts between February 26 and March 5.
In its statement dated February 26, the ministry declared that 845 people who criticized the Afrin operation on social media and attend critical demonstrations were detained. (AS/TK)
