In its statement today (February 26), the Ministry of Interior has made public that 845 people who criticized Afrin operation on social media and participated in protests have been detained.
The announcement released on ministry’s official website is:
“Since January 20, 2018 when Operation Olive Branch was launched, 85 protests and 648 propaganda activities were realized against the operation. 120 provocateurs were detected and 845 suspects were detained”.
The ministry added that 423 social media accounts claimed to have committed crimes including “hate speech” on social media are being investigated and 251 users of these accounts were determined.
The ministry declared that 1,161 operations were carried out countrywide since February 19 and 4 thousand 921 people were detained during these operations. (AS/TK)
