University students from the Students Collective sang a song against Constitutional amendment referendum on a ferry yesterday (January 23). The ferry passengers prevented students from being detained by police at the exit of the ferry with their protests.
The passengers supported the students with clapping while the private security staff tried to stop students from singing on Beşiktaş-Kadıköy ferry.
Following the song, “They will ask us to vote in favor of the presidential system, our choice is obvious, we are saying no” said the students.
According to a report on Kolektifler.net, the police officers tried to detain the students as the passengers started to get off the ferry. The passengers reacted to the situation.
In the footage, it was heard that a person saying he is the cityline security chief claimed that the university students “defamed the president”. One of the passengers said “We are ferry passengers, we all are, you cannot detain us for singing a song”. (BK/TK)
