Ministry of National Education (MEB) has combined courses of language and expression, and Turkish literature taught in high schools. Name of the new course has become Turkish language and literature.
The new course that will include all subjects of the curriculum in the two courses will be taught starting from 9th graders as of 2016-2017 school year, Hürriyet daily reports.
New subjects
New subjects that students use in daily life have been added in the curriculum. Subjects aiming to develop verbal and written expressions such as script, e-mail, diary, blog, prepared speech, listening, open session and panel, script writing, making short film are among the new subjects.
Number of titles in the new course has been increased to nine, namely “story, poem, essay, novel, theater, script, fabl, letter/e-mail, diary/blog”.
New curriculum of 10th, 11th, 12th grades gradually include all grammar subjects and literary period over genres. (YY/TK)
