The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for September 2020 today (October 5).
According to the figures announced by the state agency, the consumer price index, which is also termed consumer inflation, increased by 11.75 percent annually and 0.97 percent monthly in September.
As indicated by the Institute, a rise in general index was realized in the CPI on the previous month by 0.97 percent, on December of the previous year by 8.33 percent, on same month of the previous year by 11.75 percent and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 11.47 percent.

Highest annual increase in goods, services
While the lowest annual increase was recorded in alcoholic beverages and tobacco with 0.68 percent, it was followed by communication with 6.74, clothing and footwear with 6.91 and education with 7.55 percent.
On the other hand, miscellaneous goods and services with 25.17 percent, health with 15.09 percent and food and non-alcoholic beverages with 14.95 percent were the main groups where high annual increases were realized.
Highest monthly increase in household equipment
The highest monthly decrease was 0.07 percent in education. In September, the other main group that indicated a decrease was clothing and footwear with 0.03 percent. Furnishings and household equipment with 3.02 percent, transportation with 1.84 percent and housing with 0.93 percent were the main groups where high monthly increases were realized.
Average prices of 314 items increased
In September 2020, within average prices of 418 items in the index, the average prices of 62 items decreased and the average prices of 42 items remained unchanged while the average prices of 314 items increased.
A rise in CPI excluding unprocessed food, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and gold was realized in CPI on the previous month by 1.35 percent, on December of the previous year by 8.75 percent, on same month of the previous year by 11.57 percent and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 10.81 percent in September 2020.
