Amid fluctuations in global markets, the ongoing tension between the US and China as well as the data and statements suggesting economic recovery are high on the world's economic agenda.
The weakening news flow as to the COVID-19 vaccine affected the inner dynamics of global markets. The gold price per ounce increased in value by over 3 percent. It was 1,998 US dollars at the close of the exchange.
The gold price per ounce has maintained its upward trend in the Asian markets and topped 2,015 dollars today (August 18).
In the free market, gram gold is traded at the exchange of 476 lira (TRY), quarter gold coin is at 788 TRY and Cumhuriyet gold coin at 3,139 TRY.
As of 11 a.m. at local time in Turkey today, the exchange rate of the US dollar was 7,39 TRY. While the lowest USD exchange rate was 7,36 TRY yesterday, it increased in value by 0.16 percent during the day and it was 7,39 TRY at the close of the exchange.
As for the Euro, it has increased in value by 0.3 percent against the Turkish Lira. As of 11 a.m. today, one Euro is 8,7940 TRY and one pound sterling is 9,7310 TRY as it has increased in value by 0.6 percent.
