Handling ecology lawsuits for long years, attorney Barış Yıldırım has become the new president of Dersim Bar Association.
Dersim Bar Association’s 9th Ordinary General Session was organized on October 15. In consequence of the election, Attorney Barış Yıldırım was elected president and the board was formed with Attorney Kemal Akbayır, Attorney Kenan Çetin, Attorney Eda Erdoğan Can and Attorney Suna Bilgin.
Visiting Munzur Springs the day after the election, Yıldırım pledged to protect Dersim’s cultural and natural heritage.
Who is Barış Yıldırım?
Born in Dersim in 1980, Yıldırım graduate from Ankara University, Faculty of Law. He has been practicing law in Dersim since 2002. He served as Labor Party Provincial Secretary. He worked as Human Rights Association Dersim Representative between 2006-2013.
He ran various judicial processes such as recognition of 1938 Dersim Massacre, mine clearance in Dersim, which had the most anti-personnel mines due to domestic security etc.
He is a member of Union of Bars of Turkey Environment and City Law Commission and Lawyers of Environment and Ecology Movement (ÇEHAV).
He is the spokesperson of Initiative of Dersim Preservation of Cultural and Natural Heritage. (NV/TK)
