Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Maria Zakharova evaluated the Jarablus operation launched by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and Free Syrian Army in her weekly meeting.
In a statement issued yesterday (August 31), replying to questions about operation Euphrates Shield, Zaharova said, “We are calling on the Turkish side to be selective and not shoot the Kurdish groups”.
“We are monitoring Turkey”
According to a report by Sputnik, Zakharova called on Ankara to “coordinate its military operations in Syria with the country’s legitimate government and avoid attacking the Kurdish groups with the opposition forces”.
Stressing that Russia was monitoring Turkey’s operations in Syria, Zakharova urged Ankara to coordinate its operations with the Syrian government.
Zakharova also criticized the United States and said, “It is unclear what our American colleagues really seek to gain. Their goal cannot be understood and their acts are chaotic and inconsistent”. (AS/TK)
