Organized for the third time by the Mesopotamia Culture Center (MKM), Kurdish Culture and Art Days Festival took start at Cezayir Meeting Hall in Beyoğlu in İstanbul today (October 25).
The festival was opened with the exhibition consisting of imprisoned Murat Satılmış’s paintings.
Theater plays, concerts, panel and film screenings will take place in the festival to continue until October 29.
Outlook on the Middle East from prison
The exhibition treats subjects including destruction and war in the region.
Satılmış’s pieces introduce a different perspective to the damages caused by temporal and mental borders.
Satılmış was born in 1973 in Turkey’s southeastern province of Diyarbakır. He was arrested due to political reasons and sentenced to 36 years in prison as he was studying mathematics at Dicle University. (TP/TK)
