İstanbul’s interdisciplinary art festival, Pera Fest treats theme of “Art Against Discrimination” on 14th annual.
The festival to be held between the dates of March 21-27 will open with night of poetry and music at 8 p.m. on March 21, Monday.
In connection with March 21 celebrated as “International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination”, and “World Poetry Day” in addition to Newroz, opening event to be held at Tiyatro Pera will consist of poetries and songs on “discrimination” theme.
While Orhan Alkaya, Enver Ercan, Haydar Ergülen, Cenk Gündoğdu, Küçük İskender, Lal Laleş and Hakkı Zariç to participate in the event with their own poems, theatre players Orhan Aydın, Metin Belgin, Deniz Celiloğlu, Ece Dizdar, Yücel Erten, Defne Halman, Nesrin Kazankaya, Jülide Kural, Zeynep Özyağcılar, Aliye Uzunatağan and Ragıp Yavuz will read local and foreign poems.
In addition to musicians such as, Sema, Güvenç Dağüstün, Mehtap Meral, Taner Öngür, Serap Yağız, Hasan Yükselir who will sing songs touching upon different aspects of ethnic and sexual discrimination, Dodan and Mirady with Kurdish songs, and Mihrap Eskiocak with Arabic songs will join the event.
Three panels, one conference, three short films, three full-length films, and three theater plays appear in the festival program.
