Responding to parliamentary inquiry of Republican People’s Party (CHP) Niğde MP Ömer Fethi Gürer, Müezzinoğlu explained what they have done to prevent child labor in nut agriculture.
“In partnership with the International Labor Organization (ILO), ‘Project of Preventing Child Work in Nut Agriculture’ has been run since 2012.
“As part of the project, local capacity has been increased on a large scale, education support and summer school services for children were provided and studies to raise awareness in the families were carried out”.
Noting that the responses to the questions were inadequate, CHP Niğde MP Ömer Fethi Gürer stated unregistered child labor is a major issue and that further inspections to prevent occupational homicides are needed. (YY/TK)
