The song entitled "We have gotten hungry for freedom", which has been composed by the former Co-Chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtaş, who has been behind bars in Edirne Prison since November 4, 2016, has been interpreted by musician Azad Bedran.
The video was published on the Twitter account of Bedran today (October 1).
Story of the song
Ahead of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections on June 24, 2018, the wife and daughters of Selahattin Demirtaş, who was also the Presidential candidate of the HDP, sang another song written by him entitled "Don't fear, shout" while Demirtaş was on the phone listening to it. The video of this performance was also posted on social media.
As reported by Vecdi Erbay from the Gazete Duvar news website, the story of the song is as follows:
* On that day, when Başak Demirtaş and their daughters sang the song of Selahattin Demirtaş, the musician who was singing the song with them and playing the saz was Azad Bedran. After the video was recorded, Demirtaş asked Bedran to give music classes to his daughters and Bedran said that he would like to interpret one of Demirtaş's songs.
* Demirtaş sent the lyrics of his song "We have got hungry for freedom" to Bedran via his attorneys. Başak Demirtaş recorded the song which was sung by Demirtaş on the phone and sent the voice record to Bedran. (EK/EKN/SD)
