Boncuk, the new actor of Kocaeli Municipality City Theaters, has been preparing for his role Dolores in the play called “Of Mice and Men” these days. Boncuk was waiting to be adopted at Kocaeli Municipality’s animal shelter.
Now, he is taking the stage acting “Dolores”, the dog of old farmer Candy in the play “Of Mice and Men”, which was written by John Steinbeck and translated by Zeynep Avcı.
It was general art director Fatih Seydi who saw Boncuk in the shelter and casted him.
From street to theater stage
Boncuk was found exhausted on a street by teams from Kocaeli Municipality Street Animal Temporary Nursing Home.
Explaining that they needed a dog to act in the city theaters for a play, Seydi said that that is how he met Boncuk.
“First, he was a bit shy. He was having difficulties in entering the building or closed spaces but he beat this fear in time. He got used to the theater and us without much difficulty”.
“Don’t buy but adopt animals”
“If animal lovers want to raise an animal, there are many ownerless animals in animal shelters. If you have the means and you believe you can look after these animals, you must definitely adopt from animal shelters.
