Thought not all over the world, World Cat Day is celebrated in some countries on February 17.
Cat Day founded by Italians to highlight the importance of cats is celebrated in the United States on October 29, it is March 1 in Russia and February 17 in Poland.
Different qualities are being attributed to the cats believed to have nine lives by some cultures, and seven lives by some others.
While some believe cats have curing affect, some others believe cats bring bad luck.
When cats were killed in masses in the Medieval when cats were believed to increase witches’ powers, mouse population has significantly increased in Europe and became an important factor in spread of plague.
There is estimated 500 million house cats now all over the world, and supposedly the number of cats living in streets is much greater. (BK/TK)
