Boğaziçi Üniversitesinde Afrin operasyonu için lokum dağıtanların bazı öğrencilerce protesto etmesi başlayan gözaltı operasyonları dünyanın farklı ülkelerindeki akademisyenlerce kınandı.
Akademisyenler öğrencileri "terörist" olarak niteleyen Cumhurbaşkanı Recep Tayyip Erdoğan'ı da eleştirdi.
Mektup Türkiye'nin New York Başkonsolosluğu'nun yanı sıra Cumhurbaşkanı Erdoğan, Başbakan Binali Yıldırım, Adalet Bakanı Abdulhamit Gül, Yükseköğretim Kurulu (YÖK) Başkanı Yekta Saraç, Milli Eğitim Bakanı İsmet Yılmaz ve Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Rektörü Mehmed Özkan'a yollandı.
"Boğaziçi Üniversitesi’nde gözaltına alınan öğrencilere destek için açık mektup" adlı metin şöyle.
"Dünya çapındaki akademik topluluklarının üyeleri olarak, Boğaziçi Üniversitesi’ndeki öğrencilerin son zamanlarda tutuklanmasına ve taciz edilmesine sert bir şekilde karşı çıkıyoruz.
"19 Mart 2018’de öğrenciler, kampüs içinde İslam Araştırmaları Kulübü tarafından organize edilen Suriye’de Afrin’in işgal edilmesinde savaşan askerleri desteklemek için yapılan etkinliğe karşı bir gösteri yaptılar. Sonrasında gerçekleşen kampüs içindeki tutuklamalar, polisin ev ve yurt baskınları, Türkiye’de son zamanlarda artan siyasi konuşmaları ve muhalefeti suç kabul etme trendinin bir parçasını oluşturuyor.
"Recep Tayyip Erdoğan alaycı bir üslupla bu öğrencilerden 'terörist' diye bahsetti, onları okuldan atmak ve başka bir üniversitede eğitim almalarını engellemek için ant içti. Erdoğan’dan daha önce böyle sözel saldırılar görmüştük ve bunlar binlerce akademisyenin, gazetecinin, sanatçının ve insan hakları savunucularının tutuklanmasıyla sonuçlanmıştı.
"Türkiye hükümetini gözaltına alınan öğrencileri derhal serbest bırakmaya çağırıyoruz.
"Türkiye hükümetini siyasi söylemden dolayı tutuklanmış veya gözaltına alınmış bütün öğrencileri derhal serbest bırakmaya çağırıyoruz.
"Karşılaştıkları risklere rağmen cesur bir şekilde muhalefetlerini dile getiren bu öğrenciler ile dayanışma içinde olduğumuzu bildiriyoruz.
